DANIELA GENTILE
Sixth Domain of Operations
As a Research Affiliate, Daniela will explore speculative applications of vibrational ontology in advanced neuromodulation technologies within the context of cognitive warfare, where the human mind becomes the new battlefield: the sixth domain of operations. Starting with the exploration and analysis of the most recent and advanced discoveries at the intersection of neuroscience, robotics, neural implants, acoustics and artificial intelligence, Daniela’s contribution to the Sixth Domain of Operations investigates how innovations like infrasound, acoustic holography, sonogenetics, neural implants, and aerosol nanorobots could be used to manipulate cognition, enhance or suppress human performance, and reshape both military strategies and daily life. Her research will critically examine the ethical and societal implications of emerging NBIC technologies at the intersection of neuroscience, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
BIO
Daniela Gentile is a sound researcher. After completing her studies in Interior Design and Multimedia Arts & Design at RUFA - Rome University of Fine Arts, she furthered her education at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest. There, she developed the project Listening as an Eco-Political Form of Resistance (2020) using the 4DSOUND system. Her research focuses on the study of waveforms as political and socio-cultural tools for psycho-physical manipulation and on the practice of listening as an ecological and activist form of resistance. She has contributed to scientific projects on sound wave dynamics and their effects on human well-being and natural ecosystems at The Works Research Institute in Budapest. Daniela is the author of several scientific publications and essays, including Effects of Sound Immersion on Emotional Wellbeing and Homeostasis (2024), Oltre l’Ascolto. Nuove prospettive militanti sul suono espanso in L’elettronica è donna. Corpi, media, pratiche transfemministe e queer, edited by C. Attimonelli and C. Tomeo (2022), and L’Ascolto come forma eco-politica di resistenza in Connessioni Remote. Artivismo_Teatro_Tecnologia (2024).
